Ever since the foundation of the house by Apolline Henriot in 1808, Henriot has remained loyal to its appetising Chardonnay-dominant style, which has a generous toasty character deriving from luxuriously long ageing times. In 2020 a new page was turned at the house when Alice Tétienne joined it as cellar master and vineyard director. In this Master Class tailored for the readers of Glorian Ruoka & Viini magazine, Alice Tétienne and champagne expert Essi Avellan MW join forces in opening the doors to the world of champagne through Henriot’s magnificent wines. With their expert guidance, we will explore champagne production as well as its most important styles and latest trends.
Hailing from Champagne, Alice Tétienne holds a BTS in Viticulture and Enology, a Bachelor’s degree in Vine Science, a Master’s degree in Vine and Terroir and Master’s degree in Wines and Champagne. Subsequently, she obtained the National Diploma of Oenologist. After working for Centre Vinicole Nicolas Feuillatte and Maison Krug, Alice Tétienne was appointed Cellar Master and Vineyard Director at Maison Henriot in 2020, and later on also Deputy General Manager in October 2023.
Master of Wine Essi Avellan is an internationally recognized champagne expert. An author and prolific Champagne correspondent, she belongs to Club Oenologique and World of Fine Wine magazines’ tasting panels and is a jury member at the Champagne and Sparkling Wine World Championships and sparkling wine panel chair at the International Wine and Spirit Competition.
