New Guide takes readers on a 5-star tasting journey around Champagne

Essi Avellan’s Champagne : A Guide for Champagne Lovers and Gourmet Travellers

CoverInternationally acclaimed Champagne specialist, judge and author Essi Avellan MW has published a new Guide to buying and enjoying champagne and visiting the region. Available from Amazon and other international book retailers with an RSP of €37/£32, Essi Avellan’s Champagne takes us on an armchair tour of Champagne, providing all the insider tips necessary to arrange the journey of our dreams.

Author of several wine books including the 3rd edition of Christie’s World Encyclopedia of Champagne and Sparkling Wine, Essi shares her own personal favourites in this new Guide. It includes the essentials of 65 estates she appreciates and loves and details of the best restaurants, tourist attractions, wine shops and hotels in the area. With a foreword written by Champagne Dom Pérignon’s cellar master Richard Geoffroy, the book also includes insider tips from the Champenois, winemakers and cellar masters on how to make the most of the tourist’s time in Champagne.

“Falling in love with a certain wine makes you want to travel to its birthplace to see, feel and experience the region. The inclusion of ‘Champagne hillsides, houses and cellars’ on the list of UNESCO World Heritage sites in 2015 has been a major step both for Champagne and for the champagne tourist and has significantly increased investments in tourism, culture and environment across the region. Looking ahead, I’m positive that Champagne will be an even more attractive place to visit. My book is intended to be an easy-to-use guide to the region I love and its finest wines,” Essi Avellan says.

In addition to the foreword by Richard Geoffroy, the book includes photography by the native Champenois Michael Boudot.
