Battle of the Sparkling Wine World – CSWWC Awards Dinner 2022

Corks have been popping all over the world this weekend as a total of 35 Trophies were presented from the Best in Class winners to the greatest sparkling wine producers from around the globe. The top wins reveal new stars to the sparkling wine scene alongside the established Greats reinforcing their place in the ‘Hall of Fame’ of sparkling wine producers.

Ferrari Trentodeoc is the Sparkling Wine Producer of the year! The Trophy is handed to Matteo, Camilla and Marcello Lunelli.

8 World Champions, 10 National Champions and 13 Regional Champions, were all presented at a global ‘who’s who’ gathering of over 150 international winemakers, producers, industry, and journalists at the CSWWC Awards Dinner that took place in London at the iconic Merchants Taylors Hall.

Supreme World Champion trophy winner Dom Ruinart 2010 is handed to winemaker Louise Bryden and president Frédéric Dufour

The crown of Supreme World Champion went to Dom Ruinart for the Dom Ruinart 2010 Blanc de Blancs, with Ferrari Trentodoc taking the gong for Sparkling Wine Producer of the Year 2022. The Chairman’s Trophy was presented this year to Bernard Lonclas for the NV Grand Brut Blanc de Blanc and The Tony Jordan Rising Star Trophy went to Italian sparkling wine producer Kettmeir of Alto Adige.

The Champagne & Sparkling Wine World Championships also made Lifetime Achievement Awards to Michel Davesne of Champagne Deutz, Alain Pailley of Domanie Alexandre Bonnet and Michel Drapper of Champagne Drappier. Tom Stevenson praised each and every one for the effort, dedication and sheer brilliance that each have contributed to the history, development and success of the sparkling wine world as it is today.

Founder and judge Tom Stevenson went on to say “I was absolutely delighted to be back hosting the awards ceremony in person. This has been another great year for results, once again demonstrating how exciting the sparkling wine industry is. It is not only our mission to promote world class wines, but also to discover and reward new and exciting wines from established and emerging regions across the world. Exciting quality finds like sparkling wines from Bulgaria, Romania, and Alto Adige region in Italy to name a few, is one of the reasons why the CSWWC exists.
