This new cuvée from Veuve Clicquot really shows off with the house’s impressive library of reserve wines. It is blended of only reserve wines with 2010 functioning as the base, complemented by the beautiful 2009, 2008, 2006, 1996 and 1988 vintages. What a delicious recipe and I am pleased to report it works in practise, too. There is such a complexity on the nose with brioche, toast, cream and tobacco alongside honey, apricot and yellow apple fruit. The brightness of fruit and nervosity delight on the creamy soft palate enjoying from slightly lower pressure in the bottle. Perfectly balanced between vibrancy of youth and ageing complexity. And the price tag is just as inviting as is the wine! (June 2016 disgorgement). 92 points with potential for 94.
